Coldwell Banker Office Owner Files for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

During the slow real estate market, only the strong survive. A residential real estate broker recently closed its doors in the South Bay area. Joel Forral, owner of Coldwell Banker Alliance in Chula Vista, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the federal bankruptcy court in San Diego in September.

In Chapter 7 or liquidation bankruptcy, the debtor turns over all nonexempt property to a trustee, who sells it for the benefit of creditors. According to court documents, Forral listed liabilities in excess of $6.38 million and assets of $2.4 million. His filing indicated that he owes personal and business taxes, as well as money to utilities linked to Coldwell Banker Alliance, franchise fees and money for advertising expenses.

David Siroty, a spokesman at the Coldwell Banker corporate offices in Parsippany, N.J., says the company was told in midsummer that Forral sought legal counsel on closing his franchise.

Orlando-area home resales wither amid shaky market

Central Florida's home-resale market continued to stagger last month under the weight of slack demand and sky-high inventory.

Fewer than 1,000 homes were sold in the Orlando Regional Realtor Association's core market in November -- only the second time in nearly 11 years that the number has dipped below that threshold. The other instance was three months ago, in September, when sales in the core market totaled 970.

The preliminary count of 963 sales in November was down nearly 48 percent from the same month a year ago, according to the association's latest monthly report. Through the first 11 months of the year, sales in the core market -- which consists mainly of Orange and Seminole counties -- were down 39 percent from the same period in 2006.

Pro-BSO Minnet earns mayor's seat

We are going to work with her and hopefully she'll come through with flying colors and see what's best for the town,'' Dodd said.

The two factions have shouted at each other during city commission meetings and have tried to sway their neighbors. The situation became so tense that many voters in a friendly town said they wanted to swoop in to voting sites, cast their ballot and leave anonymously.

Others said the candidates' persona mattered as much as their politics.

''I voted for Minnet because I think she's well-qualified,'' said Maria Chiarello. ``I think she's bright and intelligent and will help us bring unity to this town.''

On election day, campaign workers were civil. They sat in lawn chairs and distributed literature.

A Minnet supporter stood outside with her white small dog, Miko, who she claimed wanted a professional fire department.

Dear Panhinda and lucky.

Anyway, I was thinking of buying a bike for myself for exercise purposes. A recondition mountain bike sells between 12,000 and 20,000 depending on options.

A basic 'poor man' bicycle is around Rs 8,000. So, you must be able to fork out quite a capital to buy the poor man's vehicle.

Now, these are the types of industries that we can probably have in Sri Lanka. It would probably generate employment while at the same time lowering the prices. .

HP aims to cut PC energy use by 25 percent

Hewlett-Packard said Tuesday that it is aiming to cut the energy consumption of its desktops and notebooks by 25 percent by 2010.

The HP announcement, delivered at the Consumer Electronics Show, almost reads like it comes from an auto manufacturer trying to cut the miles per gallon requirements of its fleet.

Technology vendors are increasingly using their green IT initiatives to improve their standing in the market place. It's becoming difficult to distinguish the marketing from the green technology reality. Indeed, HP touted the number of its products meeting gold and silver ratings under EPEAT (the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool).

Jack Del Rio press conference transcript

Good people here, a great place to live, a nice warm city and there are a lot of draws here. Then you add on top of that a good staff, a good group of guys, an unselfish environment, I think guys get excited about winning football. We've been a winning football team over the last four years. We're right up there with the top five or six teams in the league. So yeah, I think winning and doing those things and having that type of culture, I think that definitely helps you bring in people."

(with your team having success, other teams may look to your coaching staff to hire for key positions. How is that different in replacing them and what philosophy will you use going forward to make those replacements when they come up?) "One of the things I said to the staff and players yesterday is that change is a part of the NFL.
